More about our team

You will be an integral part of a team of control specialists. We actively thrive to build a robust control environment, through advising on risks and controls relating to both existing and developing processes, ensuring that financial reporting risks are identified, and controls are embedded in all relevant processes.

Aviva is going through an exciting transition and you will have opportunities to participate in a more advisory role, guiding the business on the development and embedding of a strong and effective control structure as the company improves its current processes.

This is an enticing opportunity to join a specialised team seeking to ensure that Aviva has an effective and robust control structure as it transitions to a leaner, more streamlined finance function. We are looking for a new team member with the following strengths:
* You love a challenge where no two days are the same
* You enjoy engaging directly with business areas
* You are comfortable negotiating with people and making decisions based on facts
* You love challenging the status quo
* You are quick to adjust your work priorities to meet changing demands
* You work well in a team, sharing ideas and approach

What are the duties & responsibilities?
* You will communicate, report and influence senior business partners on the identification of risks and the assessment of the effectiveness of the framework of controls and the embedding of controls into strategic decision-making
* You will perform control testing in line with FRCF (Financial Reporting Control Framework) methodology
* You will advise on the effectiveness and efficiency of existing and proposed processes
* You will assist with special projects through a financial controls perspective
* You will assist in ensuring that all control deficiencies are remediated appropriately and in a timely fashion
* You will occasionally be required to travel out of York

What skills & experiences do we require?
* Qualified Accountant or working towards this
* Prioritisation and analytical skills
* Audit experience would be fantastic to see
* Excellent communication both written and oral
* A finance service / insurance background is desired
* Dedicated customer and business partner management
* Experience of influencing senior management and negotiation

What will you get for this role?
* A salary of £35,000 to £50,000 depending on skills, experience and qualifications
* Generous defined contribution pension scheme
* Annual performance related bonus and pay review
* Holiday allowance of 29 days plus bank holidays and the option to buy/sell up to 5 additional days
* Up to 40% discount for some Aviva products through “My Aviva Extras” plus discounts for Friends and Family (some exclusions apply)
* Excellent range of flexible benefits to include a matching share save scheme
