Data Architect - UK Wide
The world's leading independent, end-to-end IT services company, helping clients harness the power of innovation to thrive on change and serving nearly 6,000 private and public sector clients across 70 countries, is recruiting. More specifically, Be-IT is recruiting on their behalf. Which means we have the inside track on just why these jobs are so-o-o-o special. Hype? Well, there's only one way to find out First up, let's be straight. These are consultancy roles and there is quite a lot of travel three days a week on site, plus two day from delivery hub, near you. Could be more, could be less. But you're going to be out and about. A lot. If that rules you out, sorry, but stop reading now. Still with us? Good - here's the next bit. As you can see, serious money is on offer. We can't guarantee everyone will get top whack, but tell us why you're worth it, back it up with enough of the key development/architecture skills and you'll be trained on the rest. This is one of the big plus points. Your skills, their training and you'll be running well ahead of the rest of the data science pack. Crucially, you won't be tied to offering one solution; rather you'll be working with the go-to pioneer in this field, on high profile projects with no restrictions on the technology and the ability to offer clients the best, most relevant tools for the job. Another big selling point is that you'll be joining a relatively new practice one which is having a lot of money pumped into it with a view to long-term success. For those with the right mix of professional and personal skills, it's a potent mix of job security and technology rolled into one. Right hopefully you're up for this. Now for the details. The job is wide-ranging and challenging. You'll be involved in supporting the design, development and implementation of Big Data applications, the development of prototypes and proof of concepts while staying on top of evolving technologies. Using cutting-edge technology, you'll be working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, assisting in the development of prototypes and proof of concepts for selected solutions for major projects To do this, you'll need experience/knowledge of: Hadoop ecosystem (two years minimum); Java or Scala; Linux scripting; at least one/two of Spark, Akka, HBase, HDFS and Hive; data analaytics (R, Python), processing real-life events using Kakfa, Flume or NiFi; distributed stream processing; Powercenter and Data Quality; cloud platforms; and, finally, and of course, what's best described as an Agile frame of mind. On top of all this, you'll need excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to learn quickly and engage at all levels of an organisation, plus the drive, determination and enthusiasm to make a success of whatever you turn your hand to. In addition, you must, obviously, be prepared to travel and also to undertake security clearance where required by clients. Interested?
