Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Reporting to: Engineering Supervisor

Location: The role will be based at our facilities within Leicester

Brief overview of job role:

The Electrical Engineer supports the Engineering Team in all electrical works within the field of Special Purpose Machinery. The role covers all aspects of the electrical assembly of both new build machinery and the retro-fitting of our current plant machinery. There will also be the need to oversee machine installations and any electrical support the business requires. The candidate needs to be flexible and assist in the development of the duties as listed below.

Main duties include:

· Building electrical control panels to current standard

· Possess a good understanding of electrical drawings to facilitate working with minimal supervision

· Understand the importance of Electrical Health and Safety within the workplace

· Field wiring new build machinery to current standard

· Communicating effectively with sub-contractors to achieve set targets

· Oversee machine installations to current standards

· Working to a very high level of detail and accuracy

· To be able to demonstrate these skills and processes by working independently or with a team, to undertake tasks as instructed and increasing overall contribution to the department.

· To develop the skills to manage a project from concept/design through to build and implementation into the business.

· To develop an understanding of the functional principles of the equipment/machinery within the business.

· Trouble shoot and fault find any defect on machines and carry out improvements/repairs as necessary.

· Assist in preventative maintenance and routine scheduling servicing where required.

· Observe and comply with all Safe Working Practices.

· Communicating effectively with internal departments.

· To assist in the repair of machinery where necessary.

· To maintain and to ensure general good housekeeping of the workplace and workshop areas.

· Ensure work is carried out to the highest standard and in the interest of the company.

· To be flexible and carry out other reasonable requests made by the line manager to support departmental or company objectives.


· Time served with preferably a manufacturing background

· Preferably 18th edition qualified

· Experience of working on live machinery

· Attention to detail and accuracy.

· Excellent communication skills.

· Ability to prioritise work and manage a number of tasks concurrently.

· Methodical approach to solving queries.

Hours of Work:

Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4.30pm with a daily 30-minute lunch break.

Flexibility to work a Double Day shift may be required (06.00 – 14.00 / 14.00 – 22.00)
