CDS Recruitment are working with our client who are looking to recruit a Time Served Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician on a Permanent basis.

Reporting to the Maintenance & Facilities Manager, the main purpose of the role is as follows:-

" To work with the Maintenance and Facilities, Production Supervision and Production teams to ensure, maximum efficiency of machines. Working on a Continental shift basis the individual will be responsible for troubleshooting, investigating and practical maintenance, repair and re-setting of machines to ensure optimum output and lean processes within the manufacturing facility, within a strong established team who operate within a continuous improvement work ethic.

Areas of Responsibility:

Multi-skilled Maintenance Technician, activities include a full range of skills from tool-maintenance to repair/replacement of electronic circuitry and mechanical parts etc.

Maintenance fitter background (preference is for electrical/mechanical rather than mechanical/electrical) however, dual skilled individuals would be particularly welcomed and experience gained in the electrical/electronic manufacturing sector industry is particularly advantageous.

Parts may not be accessible and there is some documentation to refer to. Therefore, the successful individual will have to use their initiative in solving problems and identifying faults. Having the ability to pick up things quickly and participate within a team is essential.

Working arrangements are organised on a Continental Shift Pattern (3-2-2), so the individual will need to be flexible. The candidate will ideally be educated to ONC/HNC in the usual engineering fields with a minimum of 2-3 years practical experience in a manufacturing environment.

Duties include:-

" Where machine faults occur, identify the root causes and putting remedial action in place as well as ensuring that preventative and/or corrective measures, which could involve improvements to processes are deployed.

" When manufacturing stops, working with the maintenance team to identify root causes and put in place preventative and/or corrective measures for any future occurrences.

" Identify and implement improvements to be made to existing equipment within the manufacturing facility.

" Participate in the identification, production and implementation of essential documentation needed to ensure consistency of process, products and parts.

Skills & Experience required for the role:


" A higher level qualification in an engineering discipline; minimum of a HNC qualification or equivalent linked to a time served background.

" Experience of working within a manufacturing organisation - high volume and/or batch production with PLC-controlled machinery with pneumatic drives.

" Quick understanding of complex situation and implementation of corrective actions.


" Good knowledge of Lean tools and techniques (5s, TPM & Kaizen) preferably with implementation experience.


" Knowledge of corrosion resistant materials.

" Welding knowledge (Resistance, Precision, Ultrasonic (Plastic & Metal), Percussion, Laser, Tig & Projection welding).

" Precision metrology techniques & electrochemical knowledge.
