A public sector client in Sheffield are currently recruiting for a Food Licensing Enforcement / Technical Officer – this will involve overseeing and enforcing necessary precautions regarding allergens in food businesses as well as licence review work.

Food Safety qualification DCATS/DCA/DTS or equivalent, plus experience of the licence review would be highly preferable.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure licensing functions are properly carried out in accordance with legal expectations and policies
  • Daytime and night-time enforcement work which may also include weekends and public holidays in accordance with requirements
  • Potentially working with police and other statutory agencies as requested
  • Interviewing individuals under caution and all stages up to presentation and evidence in court
  • Working out of the office on a regular basis, undertaking pro-active visits and inspections
  • Representation of organisation at public meetings and undertaking training of specific licensees

Working Hours

Paid 37 hours per week

4 days = 29.5 hours

1 evening of 5 hours paid 7.5 hours

Skills and Requirements

  • Must have a sound knowledge of licensing legislation and has the ability to act as an officer of Responsible Authority
  • Will need knowledge and ability to support key objectives and key partners
  • A minimum of five years' experience in a licensing related function or similar regulatory function
  • Must have adequate experience of undertaking enforcement inspections in a licensing and/or similar regulatory function
  • Previous experience of developing and maintaining high level external and internal partnerships
  • Must be willing to potentially work nights, weekends and bank holidays as per reasonable rota request
