Senior Data Analyst - 12 Month - Fixed Term Contract

This role is in our Forecasting, Planning and Inventory team which manages forecasting, demand, MRP processing and inventory planning activities across the Rolls-Royce Business Unit, covering the UK, Europe and Asia. The department is a key contributor to business unit activities as well as central functions such as Sales, Commercial, Supply Chain, Operations and Finance.
As a Senior Data Anaylst you access, analyse, consolidate, process and validate complex and diverse forecasting and inventory data in support of business improvement initiatives, performance reporting, root cause analysis and financial business objectives. This is a role that requires attention to detail with the ability to consolidate information but more importantly being able to identify trends and themes and provide robust judgments and recommendations from the data analysis, in accordance with business requirements, agreed policies and processes. The candidate will also be required to support the development and automation of existing and new reports using Forecasting, business intelligence and warehouse data management tools.
This role is inventory management and control. This will include:
- Slow moving and obsolete inventory management, in line with commercial contract
- Stock provision – both non marketable and stock integrity, ensuring group policies are deployed, key drivers understood and risks mitigated where possible
- Reporting – implementing standardised reporting for the business unit, focus on reporting actuals vs budget and communicating this to senior management team
- Controls & Data – ensuring group policies are deployed and understood and taking ownership for the accuracy of all inventory related data
There will be cross function work across all areas of the business, with focus on the supply chain, forecasting, finance and commercial.
Previous experience in an inventory role is essential, ideally with a distribution/aerospace/retail background. Needs to have worked in a medium/large inventory environment and be hands on as well as able to manage a team and step back to review the big picture.
You will most likley be assuming a role as an Inventory Manager. Inventory Controller role already - Please note this is not a role based in an IT function.
We are looking for a highly numerate candidate who has excellent analytical skills ideally from a supply chain related background. You will be educated to A-Level standard in Maths or equivalent and be at a minimum of intermediary level in the use of Microsoft Excel. It is essential you are comfortable with undertaking complex analysis but also proficient in summarising and communicating findings and outcomes to teams and individuals at all levels of the business.
