Location: Ely

Salary: Negotiable

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am- 16:30 (37.5 hours per week)

We are looking for a pro-active Buyer to join a global organisation based in Ely.

As a Buyer, you will need to be dynamic, motivated, adaptable and an excellent communicator.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Negotiating prices with new and existing suppliers

* Support supplier selection process when required

* Create and maintain mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers

* Generate daily reports to support production management and progressing to support inventory/production requirements

* Manage flow of materials from MRP to ensure Purchase Orders are placed within the supply chain in an efficient way

* To identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities

* To identify and procure non MRP based products to support other departments

* Manage & renegotiate supply agreements within the supply chain

* Check and authorise designated invoices for stock, packaging items

* Regularly review and maintain key data within Axapta

* Take ownership & manage the vendors – must conduct regular face to face meetings, quarterly business reviews to ensure a strong relationship is held within the supply chain

* Manage & resolve non-conformance within the supply chain

* Management of live Purchase Order – Apply high focus on OTD to ensure supplier delivery performance is consistently achieved

* Support new product changes & developments that transition into the department and impact the supply chain

Candidate Requirements

* Significant experience as a Purchasing professional & ideally within a manufacturing background

* Strong negotiating skills

* Excellent communication skills, both strong written and verbal

* Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

* Numerate

* Organised, efficient and takes initiative

* Strong team player

* Past experience of LEAN / 5S / Kaizen or Six Sigma initiatives would be great

* Experience using ERP / Supply Chain software (MS Axapta would be desirable)
