We are looking for a Science Teacher for an SEN School catering Key Stages 2-5 for children with Autism Spectrum Condition and/or Social, Emotional, Mental Health Needs.

You will need:
• QTS or equivalent qualification
• Experience of working in an education environment with SEN children with SEMH/ASC needs
• Demonstrable good judgement, emotional intelligence, commitment, reliability and integrity
• Ability to teach a variety of Science subjects across Biology, Chemistry and Physics to a range of age groups and abilities

Teachers will be required to use their subject specialism to support non – subject specialists as well as providing sufficient direct teaching.

The job itself will involve the following.
• Delivering Science lessons that are pupil-focused and creative, according to an agreed timetable, including cover lessons when necessary.
• Differentiating the National Curriculum to meet the needs of ASC /SEMH pupils and devising Individual Education Plans to reflect their development needs.
• Devising schemes of work, lessons plans and curricula projects to meet the above, utilizing the full range of appropriate community facilities.
• Working flexibly to the needs of individuals within the groups.
• Ensuring pupils to develop/enhance their life skills
• Ensuring that there are regularly updated Individual Education Plans and half-termly written reports for all pupils with short-term achievable goals and targets.
• Facilitating activities arising from Individual Education Plans.
• Reinforcing behaviour management within the class in a positive manner and working with the Senior Manager and Teaching Assistant to initiate a system of rewards.
• Actively plan for rapid improvement in literacy and numeracy skills of all pupils.
• Taking part in meetings, training and other group events as required.
• Contributing to the development of Education Services and the school’s initiative.
• Facilitating and encouraging a sense of responsibility to and ownership of the group by group members.
• Liaising with other agencies, as appropriate, for careers advice, information access, etc.
• Managing and utilising activity budgets for educational activities or the purchase of additional teaching resources.
• Maintaining good personal and professional boundaries always including respecting and maintaining the confidentiality of all service users and others,
• Undertaking other duties appropriate to the post as outlined by the Senior Manager
