An excellent opportunity has arisen in the Bedfordshire area for an experienced Highways NEC Supervisor to work on a long-term contract basis, overseeing the work of internal staff (Clerk of Works) and sub-contractors on a major highways scheme.

The scheme itself is a 3km stretch of road which will be converted in to a dual carriageway over the next 18 months, benefitting road-users of the nearly 30,000 vehicles currently using the road every day.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage the process of testing, inspection and defects throughout the construction phase.

• Responsible for daily site diaries to record plant, labour, materials, progress and change control.

• Responsible for quality throughout the construction phase including understanding of construction details and drawings.

• Ensures design queries are communicated to Project Manager for review.

• To attend progress meetings with the contractor and input to contract performance measures

• Provide information for or respond to complaints

• Ensure the optimum use of the network for all road users and to keep it safe and efficient.

• Contribute to risk reduction meetings, programme meetings and progress meetings.

• Work with the commercial team to provide information for compensation events and applications for payment.
