Frontline Recruitment Derby are currently recruiting for an Electrician/Mechanic on a full time, permanent basis for a prestige packaging company which specialises within a range of different packages, using all types of materials.

Purpose of the position:

To provide high quality and on time services for the production department that requires engineering specific knowledge and skills. Ensure that all equipment on the Coalville site is maintained to the highest standards relating to safety, efficiency & readiness for use by the operations department.

Responsibilities:

1. To ensure all equipment is in a safe & serviceable condition

2. To develop & improve planned maintenance schedules

3. To prioritise work within the engineering department & deploy resources accordingly

4. To maintain & reduce engineering downtime, respond rapidly to machine failures & breakdowns

5. To identify training needs or ‘weak spots’ within the department

Tasks / Duties:

1. Provision of the required engineering support services within the plant including

* Handling engineering support requests for the production area and for the plant’s infrastructure on a daily basis

* Refurbishment of equipment as required, obtaining parts / information as required

* Development of the assigned operational improvement project tasks

1. Training the machinery operators on a basic maintenance and repair tasks

1. Use and regularly update the departmental reporting systems including reporting on faults as well as preventive maintenance works

2. Reporting the progress of the work and encountered problems to the Engineering Manager

3. Utilise the maintenance and repair materials in a cost effective manner & identify & review key spares which should be held in stock

4. Adhere to priorities set by Engineering Manager and, in his absence by Shift Manager

5. Keep the engineering workshop clean and tidy, record on audit log

6. Cover for the other members of the engineering team during their absence (as required)

7. Report accidents, hazards and near misses as well as faulty equipment to the management

8. Ensure a swift response & rectification of safety related issues

9. Take reasonable care for own and others health and safety

10. Ensure contractors have a valid permit to work at all times & ensure adequate contractor supervision & adherence to ‘CP07’

11. Co-operate with management on Health and Safety matters
