Offploy are working on behalf one of our recruitment partners to find an Learning Support Worker to work within their Education Team providing support to both the Education Team and potential learners who will need guidance and support within their education programs in the Kent area.

We have a fantastic opportunity at HMP Elmleyt o join the education team as a Learning Support Worker on a permanent, full time ( 37 hours per week) basis. The purpose of this role is to ensure, via appropriate assessment, that prospective and existing learners receive relevant and easily understood information regarding learning and skills provision and continuing support. The role will contribute to a multi-disciplinary approach that seeks to facilitate a smooth transition to the resettlement of the learner into the community. To do this successfully you'll need to:

Hold or be willing to work towards Level 2 qualifications in literacy and numeracy. Have relevant experience of conducting initial assessments and supporting learning of individuals and groups. Have experience of working with groups of learner with a range of abilities.Have experience of successful working in an effective multi-disciplinary team.

This contact with the learners includes:

taking enquiries from the men in person regarding which courses we offer

Supervising an on-line literacy and numeracy initial assessment

Conducting a ‘Welcome to Education’ session with new learners which includes completion of a learner data form and explaining the rules around education attendance

Attendance at the Induction for new men to the establishment promoting education and providing information about our courses.

The remainder of the role involves the use of the NOMIS system and administrative tasks in order to allocate learners to each course.
