R13 recruitment are supporting an Ofsted Outstanding graded, incredibly successful training provider in their search for a Functional Skills Tutor to join their centre based in Clacton-on-Sea. Supporting young people with a variety of educational and social challenges and needs, you will be responsible for delivering high quality advice, tutoring and training to mixed ability groups of up to 15 learners.

Using the recognised curriculum for Functional Skills Levels 1 & 2 incorporating Maths, English, ICT and Employability, you will develop engaging and creative topically led sessions. You will be passionate about supporting young people who may be disadvantaged or dis-engaged with mainstream education to help them improve their employment prospects.

Duties to include:

* Creating dynamic and engaging learning sessions which appeal to learners who may not have been successful in a mainstream educational environment.

* Delivering learning sessions, assuring all learners remain engaged and progress accordingly.

* Reviewing learner progress and identifying additional support areas and creating action plans to address and improve performance.

* Updating learner progress on internal database system on a regular basis to track progress.

* Behaviour management, recognising potential issues and resolving swiftly.

* Ensuring all learners are involved in decision making through learner voice forums, survey, attendance and review sessions.

* Carrying out verbal and written reports to ensure accurate and timely learner’s reviews.

* Supporting learners independently with academic and personal difficulties.

* Managing all onsite resources to ensure security of materials and equipment.

You will have/be:

* A minimum of 1 years teaching experience.

* Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths qualification (equivalent to GCSE A-C).

* Experience of developing/delivering engaging lesson plans for multi-level groups.

* Effective communication skills, coupled with the ability to engage with a variety of audiences.

* A creative approach and an understanding of different learning / teaching styles.

* Ability to work in a high pressured environment and meet tight deadlines.

* Capable in behavioural management techniques, including with young people who have LDDs.

* Sensitive and aware of local cultural and social impacts which may affect your leaner groups.

* Capability to encourage, motivate and positively influence learners to high levels of achievement.

* Exceptional organisational skills and be able to effectively prioritise workload.

Desirable:

* Experience in delivery to age 14-19 demographic.

* Full teaching qualification e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, C&G 7407, CTLLS or DTLLS.

* Experience of organising and leading projects with young people.

Please note that as part of the interview process you will be required to create and deliver a short learning session to a group of learners on a key topic which will be provided to you.

**You will be required to undertake an enhanced CRB check for this position**

This is a full time permanent role. Offered salary of up to £28,000 DOE. 25 days holiday + bank holidays + opportunity to purchase additional holiday time, annual personal training budget, pension, company discount platform.
