Do you have current accounts experience and enjoy working in a lively team environment? Our client is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join the team on a maternity contract for the next 6-12 months with the possibility of going permanent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handling all aspects of Purchase Ledger including raising payments

  • Handling all aspects of Sales Ledger including chasing debtors

  • Writing emails, letters, reports and other correspondence

  • Raising invoices to recharge shared costs to retail partners, including advertising and events

  • Processing bank transactions including receipts, payments and direct debits

  • Paying in cheques at local bank and collecting petty cash

  • Bank reconciliation (multi-currency accounts and credit card receipts)

  • Daily monitoring of exchange rates and purchasing foreign currency

  • Processing expense claims and credit card expenses

  • Controlling petty cash expenditure and processing petty cash expenses

  • Monitoring cash flow and preparing weekly cash flow forecasts

  • Producing accurate monthly sales statistics

  • Maintaining an organised accounts filing system

  • Assisting auditors at year end as required

  • General accounts administration including photocopying, archiving and correspondence

  • Other office administration as required including ordering stationery and canteen supplies, opening post, organising car park rota

  • Answering and screening incoming calls for the Finance Director

Essential Skills/ Experience:

  • Experience in a similar accounts role is essential

  • Accurate with a high attention to detail

  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook is essential

  • Knowledge of SAP and Sage 50 Accounts is desirable

  • Ability to read and interpret financial documents including spreadsheets and invoices

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Ability to work well on own initiative as well as part of an open plan office/team

  • Used to working in a very fast paced environment and can manage in pressured situations

PLEASE NOTE:

  • The successful candidate MUST hold a valid passport and be prepared to undergo a Criminal Record Check (DBS) at offer stage

  • The role may include some lifting and carrying

  • The role will include approx. 1 day per month at the client’s London office
