Role: Fire Safety Assistant

Location: Dungeness B

Type: Contract

Rate: starting at £11.84 PAYE per hour negotiable DOE

Hours: 37 hours per week

Job Purpose:

Working within Quality Management Group to support the Fire Safety Co-Ordinator to ensure high standards of fire safety are maintained on the station and we meet our legal obligations.

The key responsibility of the role will be to complete the fire risk assessment programme on site.

Accountabilities:

* Booking and administrating station level meetings and activities · Helping with the organisation of training, exercises and/or drills · Raising CRs, Document AR’s and Work Requests · Completing Work Order Cards · Drafting changes and updates to documentation · Preparing basic reports and instructions · Completing CAP assignments

Technical competencies:

* Performing routine inspection and audit activities (e.g.; Fire Risk Assessments, Safety inspections and surveys) · Servicing and maintenance of safety and emergency support facilities and equipment · Performing routine surveillances and checks of fire and safety related equipment status · Completing actions arising from meetings, CRs, inspections etc · Delivering and helping to prepare specific safety and fire safety related training · Providing basic fire safety advice to station work groups in accordance with established procedures. · Implementing follow-up actions to address issues arising from inspections, assessments & audits · Conducting minor apparent cause investigations (MACIs) and supporting other investigations · Collecting data and conducting basic data analysis to support station reports and decisions

Knowledge and Skills:

* Normally qualified to a minimum of GCSE English and Maths or NVQ 2 or RSA1 or equivalent

* CFPA Fire Risk assessment course will be provided on start of employment

* Attributes - Good communicator, Computer literate, Proactive work ethic, Able to work as part of a team but is also self-motivated

Desirable Criteria:

* Prior experience in fire safety
