Are you willing to be flexible?

Would you like to work in a school environment?

My client is an independent college for children aged 3-11 and they are searching for a flexible residential housekeeper to join their team. They are immensely proud of their school and the children – who are the greatest ambassadors. They are respectful, responsible, hard-working, fun loving and well-rounded individuals who thrive in the ethos of a school that allows them to take risks in their learning and set challenges for themselves.

Duties and responsibilities to include, but not limited to:
Open the School as required, ensuring all is locked up once everyone has left the premises;
Undertake occasional cleaning and minor repairs;
Assist with preparation of the buildings before the start of the School year, at the start of each term, and help with clearing up at the end of each term;
Assist the Bursar with compliance with Health and Safety obligations by undertaking daily, weekly, monthly and termly checks of equipment, escape routes and general tidiness;
Ensure staff areas and pupil toilets are kept adequately stocked;
Launder sports kit as required;
Be available out of school hours to allow visitors, contractors and delivery people access;
Provide playground and other pupil supervision during the mornings, at lunch time, and at the end of the school day, and provide support in the School office during busy times.

Key Qualities:
Be flexible in terms of days and hours
Have some previous experience of working with children or comfortable around them
An up to date enhanced DBS check
Be open to a varied job
Be happy to assist with administration duties
Be comfortable welcoming visitors and parents around the school
Safeguarding and first aid training certificates desirable (however full training provided)

This is a residential post. A one bedroom flat for one person is provided on site with council tax and water rates included. The flat is accessed through the School, and the Housekeeper is expected to live on site. There is no one else living at either of the School’s two sites. No smoking is permitted anywhere on the School sites. There is no parking on site while School is in session; the cost of a resident’s parking permit will be covered by the School.

The college is completely committed to the safeguarding of the children, and although this is not a teaching post it is vitally important that you have a valid, enhanced DBS check before applying to this post.
