My client is currently seeking a CAD Engineer for a contract position based in York.

Job Description

Reporting to the Design Manager (Fixed Telecoms), the CAD Engineer undertakes the day to

day responsibility for management and delivery of the CAD designs. Responsible for all

aspects of CAD related tenders and projects and is responsible for its contribution to overall

business performance.

What are my Responsibilities?

With emphasis on CAD, responsibilities will be as follows;

· Undertake CAD Engineer role technically leading and assisting the development of CAD

designs for various projects

· Produce designs using MicroStation and AutoCAD software , customizing them for the

requirements of a project, incorporating the requirements of the project to provide

designs that meet the customers specification, including;

* Production of network architecture diagrams

* Production of Track Layouts

* Production of Copper and Fibre Cable

* Production of Equipment Racks

* Production of Equipment Racks Wiring Diagrams

* Production of Cable Rigs

* Production of Telecom Schematics

* Production of Low Voltage Schematics

* Production of Cabinet Layouts

* Production of Platform Layout

* Production of CCTV schematics

* Production of CCTV Coverage Diagrams

* Production of Customer Information Displays

* Production of Help Point Schematics

* Production of Station Information and Security System Schematics

· CAD experience within a Rail environment using MicroStation and AutoCAD software

· CAD Designers must have strong computer skills and extensive knowledge of design

software

· Able to Use software to create detailed 2D or 3D designs for complex projects.

· Have experience at using Visio software

· Be able to generate Bill of Materials (BOM) from the CAD software for input to the ERTP

ordering system (SAP Based)

· Have a good understanding of the Network Rail GRIP process

· Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate

effectively.

· Build and maintain strong communication links with the Fixed Telecoms Team and

delivery partners,

· Delivery of CAD activities to the agreed time, cost, quality and performance requirements

· Responsible for managing design aspects of CAD engineering.

· Produce engineering technical and Health and Safety documentation deliverables to meet

project requirements.

· Regularly report CAD engineering tasks progress and status.

· Advise on the estimating for engineering projects and tenders requiring CAD

· Ensure the appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools are applied throughout

the engineering life cycle.

· Ensure tender and project tasks are delivered in accordance with applicable Safety and

Quality procedures and meet all applicable legislative, safety and customer requirements.

· Ensure tender and project tasks are delivered and undertaken in accordance with

customer Health and Safety procedures and requirements within main line rail, light rail

and mass transit environments.

· Manage and identify project scope changes.

· Implementation of excellent verbal and numeric reasoning to positively influence both

internal and external customers.

What experience do I need to apply for this role?

· Experienced in the use of MicroStation and AutoCAD software

· Strong experience and knowledge of implementation project engineering processes

covering development, design, construction, test, commissioning and handover.

· Good knowledge of IT systems and software, especially Microsoft Office and Project.

· Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.

· Excellent organisational, time management and problem solving skills.

· Full UK Driving licence.

· Proven experience in delivering CAD for SISS and Operational Telecoms projects.
