Our client, an international life insurance, pensions and asset management company offers retirement, workplace savings and protection solutions into the UK intermediated adviser market. As the business continues to experience excellent growth and success with their award winning Platform, an opportunity exists for a Telephone Account Manager to join an established team in Manchester. You will be responsible for providing sales account management to assist adviser firms in adopting and embedding our clients platform propositions into their business.

Job summary:

The primary role of the Telephone Account Manager is to build business relationships with adviser firms and key individuals. You will be the first point of contact and responsible for prospecting with panelled advisers in order to identify potential new business streams for Area Sales.

  • Achieve and exceed key performance targets and contribute to the overall success of IFA Sales
  • Endeavour to exceed personal sales targets by maximising new business opportunities
  • Manage a panel of adviser firms and deliver proactive sales call strategies to deepen and strengthen business relationships
  • Develop and maximise relationships with designated advisers firms and Key Individuals
  • Create, deliver and implement sales campaigns
  • Become platform proposition experts
  • Develop a strong knowledge of the external market and understanding of competitor’s products
  • Develop and maintain relationships with field based sales, specialists and HO support staff
  • Plan and implement your activity and contact strategy across your allocated panel of adviser firms
  • Deliver performance reports, sales figures and pipeline management
  • Hold regular meetings with the Sales Manager, preparing fully for 1-1 and team meetings
  • Keep regular communication with External and Internal Relationships

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Ability to plan and organise own workload in a systematic manner
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • High levels of customer focus
  • Ability to drive own performance and work to team and own goals
  • Decision making showing ability to make appropriate decisions without always having to refer to a Team Manager
  • A solid understanding of the company’s products
  • A solid understanding of the processes and procedures to take financial or marketing promotions to market
  • Well-developed communication skills
  • Ability to plan and organise and implement sales plans
  • Understanding of external legislation & competitor offerings


  • A proven sales / customer service record
  • Broad experience of Financial Services industry
  • Able to demonstrate effective business communication
  • Must be a team player and have the capability to work autonomously
  • Well-developed problem solving and decision making capabilities
  • Working knowledge of the IFA markets & understanding of business models
  • Telephone sales experience is desirable


  • Certified status
  • Willingness to obtain subsequent relevant qualifications- Diploma (incl. R02 & J11)
