The school is managed by West Berkshire Local Authority, but serves communities in both West Berkshire and Reading. A mixed 11-18 school, it has approximately 1,650 students on roll, with over 300 of these in the Sixth Form.

Founded in 1963, The School is proud of its reputation as a school built on traditional values and this provides them with an ideal opportunity to celebrate their heritage while at the same time launching a vision for the next phase in the school's development.

At the School, they believe that everyone matters. Young people only get one chance at education and they believe that it should be an outstanding one, tailored to their personal needs.

Students are encouraged to aim high in order to achieve success. Through a shared partnership between teachers, students and parents, they can help young people to improve their life chances and to progress successfully in their chosen careers or educational pathways. They want all our students to become confident and well balanced citizens, prepared for life in the twenty-first century. In short, they want all children to fulfil their potential at the School.

Here are some quotes from the schools most recent Ofsted:

“As a result of good teaching, pupils make good progress in relation to their various starting points and capabilities.”

“The management of behaviour is consistently good. Positive relationships between staff and pupils make a strong contribution to pupils’ learning.”

“School leaders closely check and assess each aspect of the school’s work and ensure that standards of teaching and pupils’ performance continue to improve.”

“The range of subjects and activities offered by the school in Key Stages 3 and 4 is adapted well to meet the needs of pupils, with a strong emphasis on developing language and communication skills.”

This is an excellent opportunity for any Health and Social Care Teacher looking to make their mark and truly impact the schools progress inside and outside the classroom.
