As a Design Support Services Team Leader, you will lead an in-house team procuring design support services such as geotechnical site investigation, topographical surveys etc. In addition, you will be managing consultants, contractors and third parties in the successful delivery of the design support services. You will support a large internal Design team in both the optioneering and design of a variety of capital projects. You will be required to ensure that the design support services are delivered safely on time, to quality and cost targets and you will enable the design team to both understand and mitigate risks. We would require both the development and continuous improvement of systems and processes, strong programme management skills and the exploration of innovative solutions to deliver in the most efficient way.

Key Accountabilities of the Design Support Services Team Leader

In this role you will be responsible for:

·Direct accountability for a small team of technical coordinators, as well as accountability for managing supply chain resources

·Planning, resourcing and delivering a variety of surveys, such as topographic, asset, site investigation and ground investigation, environmental, NRSWA traffic management and other specialist advice or enabling surveys.

·Programme management of the design support services and reporting on progress to the Design Leadership Team and the Programme Management Office.

·Building strong working relationships and working collaboratively with stakeholders inside and out to enable successful delivery, such as key teams including Design Managers, Asset Management, Programme Management Office and more

·Enabling the identification and management of any risks which could impact on the successful delivery of the Programme.

·Ensuring compliance with external legislation and statutory obligations, eg Healthy and Safety including CDM, as well as DWI, EA, Planning/Land access obligations.

·Developing technical and leadership capabilities within their team, actively managing performance and supporting development opportunities for team members.

Experience

To be successful in securing the role of Enabling Works Team Leader, they expect that you have a majority of the following experience:

·Experience of providing design support services for designers or contractors

·Experience of leading a successful team, coaching skills and building capability, preferably within a design or construction area

·Experience of managing and prioritising a programme of work.

·Experience of engaging and communication with internal and external stakeholders, as well as managing external suppliers to deliver outputs to prescribed standards and quality measures

·Strong planning and implementation skills, whilst being focused on delivery

·Understanding of the roles and responsibilities under the current CDM regulation, as well as the ability to undertake CDM duties as both the Client and Designer

·Water sector experience, including knowledge of Water and Waste network and treatment processes

Qualifications

·A suitable education (preferably degree level) in engineering, construction, project management or environmental discipline

·Accreditation in NEC

·IOSH or equivalent

·You must hold a Full UK driving licence
