The Role

Based at our Retirement Housing with Meals Service at Torosay Court in Oban, you will be responsible for preparing freshly cooked meals for people living within our development for our lunchtime and early evening meals services. You will work with our tenants to plan menus which include their own choices and preferences. You will assist with purchasing and ordering food for the development whilst ensuring that you work within the food budgets and provide tenants with value for money.

You will ensure all food hygiene and health and safety standards set by Bield and where appropriate outside regulators are met and actively promote such standards within the development. You will also participate in routine cleaning tasks.

Hours of employment are 14 per week organised as follows:

Saturday and Sunday 10:00am - 6:00pm (including a 1 hour unpaid lunch break)

There is the possibility for the successful applicant to work every other weekend.

Role Requirements

You will have a passion for cooking and a genuine interest in working with older people. Although previous experience working in a kitchen environment is preferred, this is not essential as full training will be provided. You will have an understanding of food hygiene and safety standards and may hold an Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate. If you are yet to obtain this certificate, future learning and support will be provided to help you achieve this qualification within the first six months of your employment.
