Production Engineer (Continuous Improvement)
now looking for a Production engineer with experience in continuous improvement to join a large manufacturing company.
The company are looking for an engineer with experience in working with R&D/cutting edge products and bringing them into a production environment. The position will require the candidate to first learn the processes inside and out and then work with all departments to optimize these processes.
Key Role Responsibilities:
* Innovation, new product development, tooling, materials, automation, money saving ideas for process improvement.
* To work with both production and engineering to bring R&D products into a production environment.
* Track process improvements from the shop floor all the way through design / engineering and purchasing.
* Identify the bottle necks within a working cell and keep a live record of anything that is hindering progress.
* Ensure all processes adhere to health and safety guidelines and are efficient but safe.
* To provide accurate and timely cost information, e.g. process times, materials spend.
* Accurately update the engineering status and action log every day, and communicate this information to the Production Manager when required.
* Ensure, drawings, and parts lists are on time and correctly issued to the Cell. This will be regularly audited both by internal and external auditors.
* To co-operate with other Cells and departments within the Company.
Background:
* Proven experience bringing R&D engineering projects into production. (Kaizen, KANBAN, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement.)
* Good communication skills (inter-departmental communication)
* Pro-active approach to work continuously driving process improvements
* Education to degree level or equivalent (ideally in a mechanical or science related discipline but not essential)
* Proven practical experience and/or understanding of welding, electrical testing, material / stress analysis
* Experience of working with winding machines / large DC motors / heavy duty manufacturing equipment / large scale tooling would be of a specific advantage.
* Understanding of COSHH / risk assessment processes / PPE requirements would be an advantage
