Salary: £41,900 plus competitive benefits package
In this new role at FSB, we’re looking for an experienced policy professional to join FSB’s Westminster team to develop expertise on England regional policy issues as well as undertaking the secretariat function to the England Policy Unit (EPU).
The EPU exists to identify regional policy issues across England. In this role you’ll be working with the Regional Policy Representatives (FSB members) to identify policy issues across the various regions in England and inform strategic decisions at the EPU. You’ll work closely with Policy Advisors and Field Staff to advise on research, campaigns and key policy themes in the EPU. You’ll be required to develop and co-ordinate a deliverable, focused action plan for the EPU to fulfil the strategic objectives of the unit.
In this exciting new role, you’ll be working with the Public Affairs, Policy and Communications teams to enable EPU input into UK-wide lobbying activity. Liaising with field staff and Westminster teams, you’ll draft policy papers to be submitted to the UK Policy Committee from the EPU.
We’re looking for someone with excellent strategic skills with the ability pick up on key points across a range of different policy areas. Proven experience of exercising strong interpersonal skills, to work with multiple teams and face competing stakeholder priorities, is essential. This role will give you the opportunity to attend meetings and events in both Westminster and the English regions as you support agreed, research, campaigns and deliver EPU objectives. This is a rewarding and versatile role in which you’ll be involved with the development of policy, strategy and campaigns, as well as identifying media opportunities, so we’re looking for someone with the flexibility and organisational skills to thrive in this type of role.
