As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for all accounting, financial/management reporting, and external financial reporting. This includes the establishment and maintenance of finance systems, policies, procedures and controls.

Robert Walters have partnered with a global FMCG business near Bracknell, who have been a leader in their field for several years and are now growing significantly in the market. As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for all accounting, financial/management reporting, and external financial reporting. This includes the establishment and maintenance of finance systems, policies, procedures and controls.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparation of the monthly management reports including the identification, investigation and explanation of underlying variances in performance
  • Supports the Financial Director in the budgeting process and short/long term forecasting
  • Management and reporting of cash flow
  • Liaison with Group to ensure smooth consolidation of UK results and support with ad hoc information requests
  • Supports the Financial Director and Commercial Director with commercial planning and evaluation
  • Management/oversight of accounts receivable and payable to ensure that balances are collected/paid on time
  • Liaison with all functional teams to ensure that commitments and expenditure is monitored and controlled
  • Review and approval of monthly payroll
  • Monitoring of trade promotion and retailer investment costs as agreed with the Sales Managers to ensure that these costs are adequately managed and controlled
  • Review and approval of weekly payment runs
  • Keeping up to date on changes to accounting standards and tax legislation
  • Management of the external audit process
  • Prepare balance sheet and journals
  • Check and code the invoices

Skills and experience required:

  • ACCA or ACA qualified
  • Experience working in a FMCG or retail environment
  • Understanding of inventory accounting and trade spend
  • Good understanding of UK accounting standards
  • Journal and balance sheet preparation experience is essential
