Software Development Manager / Engineering Manager - Platforms environment

An opportunity has arisen for a key leadership position within a truly global business leveraging digital and data to produce world leading solutions. The company are building next generation platforms and are looking for a Delivery focused Software Development Manager / Engineering Manager to join their team.

The key responsibilities include:

-Contribution to the companies technical strategy and road-map.
-Be responsible for all individual contributors involved in delivering software solutions for their Enterprise Software platform and overall technical implementation of the platform. Ensuring the platform consists of high quality fault tolerant, reliable and supportable services.
-Provide leadership, management, direction, and vision to employees to support, run, and change activities in the software development life cycle. Acting as a leader to highly motivated, collaborative, close-nit, enthusiastic cross-functional autonomous teams.
-You will support creating a highly collaborative innovative culture that embraces change and strives to achieve results. Able to coach, motivate and challenge individuals on the team to achieve targets.

Experience required:

-Experienced engineering manager, with direct line-management, supporting individuals in cross functional engineering teams and strong delegation skills.
-Experience leading the technical delivery, with quality and architecture oversight, of several medium to large scale platforms built using micro-service back-ends.
-Experience translating and implementing technical strategy in to new process and practices
-Strong organisation/project planning, managing projects of various size and complexity, time management, and change management skills.
-Track record of hiring high performing engineers, supporting professional and skills competency development and coaching them to continuously realise their full potential
-A Software Engineering background with strong knowledge of modern development practices with at least 1 or more programming languages such as C#, and/or Java
-Experience employing continuous integration, delivery and testing techniques.
-Understanding of evolutionary architecture and emergent design advantages and constraints
-Knowledgeable of various test first strategies and Testing patterns such as TDD and BDD but also performance, scalability, security and DR testing
-Knowledgeable of Cloud (preferably AWS and/or Azure), IaC, Immutable & ephemeral
-Comprehensive understanding of XP, Scrum/LeSS and/or Lean, DevOps & CALMS cultures
-Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, presenting information in a concise and effective manner, applicable to a wide audience including senior management
