Head of Finance | Warrington | £60,000-£65,000, pension, life assurance, healthcare, 25 days holiday | Distribution

This is a great opportunity to join an independent SME distribution business and the UK's leader in it's specific field. Based at the Warrington headquarters, this Head of Finance role is an integral part of the UK business, and will be an influential part of the senior leadership team, working closely with the Managing Director. The business distributes across multiple channels including some of the biggest retail UK retail brands. Despite this impressive customer base, the culture and values remain true to those at the inception of the business, and the ability to remain agile and flexible has been key to continued success.

About the role

This Head of Finance role is a true Finance Business Partner. One of the key relationships is with the MD and will play a fundamental role increasing sales, profit and efficiency of the UK business. Visibility of this individual across the whole organisation is essential, from the warehouse and understanding of stock, through to IT and other support functions. Whilst the role has a strong leaning to commercial finance, business patterning and decision support; it is a 'high volume' distribution environment and so a desire to ensure best practice of process, control, and transactions is also of utmost importance.

Key responsibilities

  • Overall management of finance function including management accounts, financial accounts, PL and CC
  • Stock management is key to the business and so will form a significant part of the role
  • Review of monthly accounts and performance with UK MD
  • Oversee Cashflow forecasts and plan cash management accordingly
  • Decision support, commercial finance, budget & forecast
  • Treasury management including FX, Invoice Financing, banking relationships
  • Work with Group Finance Director to agree policies and resolve accounting issues
  • Management of audit, insurance and legal relationships

Person profile

  • CIMA, ACCA, ACA qualified (5+ years PQE)
  • Experience within a fast paced, high volume environment closely liked with distribution, retail & consumer markets
  • Ability to nurture a culture of Finance Business Partnering across all functions
  • Previous experience managing all elements of a finance function
  • Energy, enthusiasm and motivation to facilitate change
  • Demonstrable experience of working with senior stakeholders in and out of finance
