Job Purpose:

To collect and prepare a range of samples entering the laboratory for testing in accordance with the appropriate standards and in line with ISO 17025. To ensure that all samples are stored in an ordered and structured manner within the conditioning room and are accompanied by the corresponding test documentation.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities:

1. To support the laboratory team in the preparation of all samples submitted to the laboratory for testing in line with their associated test standards/work instructions and corresponding test documentation.

2. Maintain test templates ensuring compliance against test standards.

3. Take an active role in managing and maintaining the storage of fabric/yarn within the laboratory preventing the buildup of remnant fabric ensuring good housing keeping standards are maintained.

4. Complete in-house testing taking care to ensure that work is carried out in accordance with health and safety procedures, guaranteeing the safety of both self and other laboratory workers.

5. Use the internal helpdesk system to determine individual testing requirements and ensure good customer satisfaction by providing regular progress updates, indicating lead times and completion dates when necessary.

6. Ensure that the required documentation is in place for all chemicals within the laboratory and that said chemicals are stored correctly. Complete and document consumable conformity checks.

7. Provide advice and guidance regarding testing status to internal customers/business in general to ensure that a high service level is maintained across the business

8. The duties of the post outlined above are not exhaustive, and the postholder will be expected to be co-operative and flexible, undertaking such administrative and other duties as may from time to time be reasonably expected of a member of the laboratory team.

Knowledge and aptitudes required:
- Educated to GCSE level in Math's & English
- Knowledge of woven fabrics would be an advantage
- Experience of working in a Laboratory would be an advantage
- Good software skills - Microsoft Word and Excel

Additional Requirements:

- Ability to perform manual handling task, lifting rolls of fabric
