Mechanical Design Engineer - Northampton (England)
MECHANICAL CAD ENGINEER DRAUGHTSPERSON
Reporting To: CAD Team Leader
Our Clients is a specialist engineering company that enjoys a global reputation as an
innovator in low volume, high performance solutions for measurement, power
transmission and test systems.
Covering Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Motorsport, Automotive and Research markets.
The Mechanical CAD design engineers study, research and develop ideas for
new products and the methods used to make them. Working on a wide range of bespoke
rotating machinery, couplings and test beds that must be functional and reliable, easy and
safe to use, whilst ensuring the design is as cost effective and efficient as possible, including
modifying existing products or processes to increase efficiency or improve performance.
To support the Design team in creating cost effective design solutions for specific
customer requests promptly and accurately. To be actively involved in the management of controlled drawings.
To create 2 and / or 3D models of component parts as required.
Building technical credibility and good relationships internally and with customers.
Applicants must have:
Either a degree or HNC in a relevant engineering discipline
3D CAD / 2D CAD experience and abilities; ideally CREO
Key skill requirements
To produce engineering manufacturing drawings from design layout and general
assembly drawings promptly and accurately.
Provide time estimates and schedules and ensuring timely completion of projects.
Preparation of supporting production documentation including the following:
Customer/assembly/manufacturing drawings, bills of materials, assembly
procedures, cost estimations and quotations.
Provide support for Project Engineers, production and manufacturing.
Participation on other engineering projects with supervision from Engineer /

Core hours of work are 37 per week based on Monday to Thursday 08:30 – 17:15 with ½
hour lunch break, and Fridays 08:30 – 12:30.
