Optima Staffing Solutions is currently recruiting Practice Nurses to work in GP Surgeries and Walk-in Centres around Braintree area on a temporary and locum positions.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The Practice nurse is part of a nursing team responsible for ensuring that the practice provides an optimum service of nursing care relevant to the practice population.

The main duties and responsibilities are as follows.

Meeting patients’ nursing care needs as identified, or where care has been transferred to her by a GP.This will usually be in surgery but occasional home visits will also be required. Initiating and maintaining health screening and promotion clinics for identified areas of the practice population, recognising where modification of systems or referral is necessary. Managing the nursing care of patients with chronic disease, employing personal recall systems suitable to the practice needs. This includes using the practice computer systems for input of information for recall and screening purposes.Accurate and efficient input of data for nGMS contract purposes is also required. The following clinics: Asthma

Diabetic review

Hypertension Clinic

IHD Clinic

COPD Clinic

Holiday Vaccination Clinic

Flu Vaccination Clinic

Cervical Smears

Family Planning

Amending or adding to services as needs are identified.

Maintaining efficient liaison with all areas of the Primary Care Team and other agencies to assure continuity of care where necessary. Routine treatment in general clinics, including: Warfarin monitoring

Maintaining Thyroxine register

Wound management

Blood tests

Removal of foreign bodies

ECGs

and other general Treatment Room skills


Required Skills and Attributes:

-MUST BE A QUALIFIED NURSE

-Current DBS

-Relevant Healthcare Training

-Right to work in the U.K.

-Minimum 1 year Practice Nursing experience

-Good verbal and written communication

-Ability to work well in a team and also able to work independently using your own initiative

-Great attitude in working with vulnerable individuals

-Competent in doing vital signs, updating food and fluid charts and turning charts.

-Reliable, punctual and committed to making a difference in the lives of others

-Up to date mandatory trainings

-Driver with own car is an added advantage

- MINIMUM MUST HAVE AT LEAST 6 MONTHS EXPERIENCE IN A SIMILAR ENVIRONMEN
