Roles and responsibilities To be a successful Manager within GSG, applicants will be expected to: • Establish role as day to day / key client contact on engagements • Build strong, trusted adviser relationships with client counterparts • Identify on-sell and cross-sell opportunities • Take day to day responsibility for smaller projects and manage significant elements of larger engagements • Co-ordinate the preparation of deliverables that span multiple workstreams. Develop the answers and challenges to the likely questions and responses of the client • Handle ambiguity and changing client demands effectively • Demonstrate deep expertise and an ability to generate insights in a chosen sector • Build and maintain a strong internal and external network • Ensure the Firm’s risk management frameworks are adhered to • Demonstrate high levels of drive, ambition and the ability to lead work at high levels of intensity • Coach others in how to identify potential risks before they occur, take preventative measures to stop them from occurring, and what to do if they occur • Identify, design and lead critical practice development initiatives, coordinating other members of the team The following are key characteristics required to be successful in GSG: • Ambitious • Analytical • Creative and intellectually curious • Commercial • Confident • Empathetic • Engaging • Entrepreneurial • Impactful • Leadership • Pragmatic • Team player Experience & Background Applicants will need to display the following: • Significant experience of working for a strategy house, big 4 firm, public-sector organisation or central strategy / corporate development team of a large company • Strong understanding of the value drivers within the Aerospace & Defence sector • Ability to manage large teams or significant parts of complex projects or programmes in the Aerospace & Defence sector • Experience of developing and preparing business development pitches in the Aerospace & Defence sector • Ability to work effectively, influence and challenge senior people (client and internal), in the Aerospace & Defence sector, whilst working on a project or business development initiative Qualifications & Skills To succeed in this demanding role an applicant will need to demonstrate the following: • A first class or 2.1 degree from a leading institution • Evidence of strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities • Structured thinking skills combined with creativity • Strong knowledge of the Aerospace & Defence sector with the ability to talk credibly to client counterparts on the key issues, technological changes and strategic considerations facing the industry • Ability to review and assess large volumes of technical data and distil the key strategic insights • Ability to evaluate complex challenges and deliver insightful recommendations that can be practically executed • Strong numerical capabilities combined with sound commercial acumen • Ability to build complex financial models that support our recommendations to clients • Excellent English written and oral communication skills • Other language skills would be a strong bonus Candidates should have, or be prepared to obtain, security vetting to at least UK Security Clearance (SC) level
