A precision engineering company in Dewsbury is looking for an Assembly Manager who has experience within the automated machine industry. The role holder will be responsible for overseeing the day to day management of the assembly, testing, shipping and installation of special purpose machinery.

Working in partnership with projects leads this senior position will manage electrical fitters, mechanical fitters, quality inspectors and labourers utilising resourcing plans ensuring appropriate resource is available when required and identifying skills gaps.

Duties Include:

* Maintain a high level of due diligence ensuring machine safety, quality and customer specifications are constantly achieved and in line with quality systems

* Work with project leads to ensure effective resource planning of all machine and spares builds

* Manage the fitting and electrical teams to motivate them to assemble and build machinery to engineering drawings

* Ensure all projects are assembled in line with customer specifications, meeting key deadlines and ensuring regular progress updates are provided

* Work with the machine shop operations team to ensure assembly schedules are maintained including the efficient transition of parts to and from the machine shop

* Manage the build quality during the assembly process through to onsite installation

* Conduct risk assessments utilising experienced personnel as required to conduct risk assessments in the build areas

* Oversee shipping/delivery/loading of projects including ensuring appropriate packing and shipping methods are used

Skills/Experience/Abilities Required:

* Previous management experience in a similar role in engineering - preferably within the automation industry

* Minimum HNC qualification in a relevant engineering discipline

* Competent in technical aspects of machine build - mechanical, electrical, pneumatic engineering

* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

* Ability to lead others with a "can do" attitude - hands on when required and used to working to tight deadlines

* Excellent communication skills adept at managing changing priorities and confident in a client facing role

* Strong computer literacy especially MS Word, Excel and Outlook

* Health and Safety qualification would be an advantage as would an FLT license
