Skilled EC&I Engineer now sought for a leading manufacturing facility in order to build upon and improve their current offering, whilst ensuring they operate to the highest of safety standards.

The successful EC&I Engineer will be carrying out the EC&I design, procurement, installation, testing and maintenance activities. This will include modifications to existing plant and new project work.

We are seeking Engineers qualified in an electrical, control or instrumentation engineering discipline, along with relevant electrical, instrumentation and control experience. Also required:

Proven background of industrial processing plant experience, responsible for carrying out Electrical, Instrumentation and control maintenance activities
Intermediate or advanced knowledge of DCS and PLC’s (preferably ABB systems)
Experience with IEC 61511 functional safety standard – ESSENTIAL
AutoCAD proficient

Specialist training sought: 17th/18th edition wiring regulations, TUV 61511, working knowledge of industrial process control IT systems, mechanical engineering skills an advantage.

The role also requires the Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer to create and maintain effective relevant liaisons and collaboration with other colleagues and managers across other departments, locations and functions of the Company and also external customers and suppliers.

Principal Accountabilities:

Participate in process Hazard and Operability studies and LOPA’s
Develop systems aligned to BS EN 61511 and 61508 including SIL’s & SIF’s to reduce process safety risks to acceptable levels
Design install and test equipment in line with BS EN 61511
Allocate work to contractors as required to aim for maximum efficiency within the department.
Investigate and solve problems as they occur
Participate in a continuous improvement philosophy

This role will be split between site and home based, therefore there is some flexibility regarding location. The EC&I Engineer will be expected on-site in the South East 2-3 days each week – when on-site a hire car, accommodation and expenses will be provided. Ideal locations would be between the Midlands and Essex i.e. Derby, Leicester, Reading, Milton Keynes, London, Colchester, Ipswich, Cambridge, Peterborough or Northampton.

This role will begin as a fixed term contract for 6 months with the opportunity to become a permanent staff role.
