We are now looking for a female Home Carer / Care Worker to support an eight year old girl with autism, a visual impairment, expressive and receptive language difficulties and challenging behaviour. This is a part time role, working at least 20 hours per week including some evenings and occasional weekend work. Your Role As a Home Carer / Care Worker, you will be tasked with providing daily assistance to the girl. Your duties will include taking and collecting her from school, visiting parks, cafes and sporting events. Living with her two mums and younger brother, she has some communication difficulties but can talk and can understand spoken language well when she is relaxed. She finds it difficult to express herself and this can lead to her becoming anxious and exhibiting distressed behaviour. Additionally, your role will involve: - Monitoring the young person by observing physical and psychological conditions - Taking and picking the girl up from school and school clubs - Providing housekeeping services by cleaning rooms; changing linen and towels, etc - Providing personal services including showering, toileting, teeth brushing, supporting healthy habits, helping with choices of clothing and getting dressed - Following all the stages of the girl’s daily routine - Assisting with the client’s five year old brother About You To be considered as a Home Carer / Care Worker, you will need: - Experience of working with children on the autistic spectrum and that express challenging behaviour - Previous professional care experience - An understanding of the varying needs and requirements of children with complex physical and cognitive disabilities - To be comfortable with dogs - A full, clean manual driving licence Due to the nature of the role, only female applicants will be progressed as being female is deemed to be a genuine occupational requirement. Basic computer literacy would be beneficial to your application. Professional experience of educational, health or social care environments would also be an advantage, as would a QCF Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health and Social Care. Training in Paediatric first Aid, Epilepsy, Medication and Safeguarding would be equally desirable, as would access to your own vehicle.
