Applications are invited for the above post which supports the Ocular surface and cataract service, Oculoplastics and Acute Eye services.
Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust is a large acute Trust serving South West London and Surrey.
Epsom and St. Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust is part of the South West London Clinical Network for Ophthalmology.
This post forms part of an exciting development of service provision for the Anterior Segment and Ocular surface services. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their clinical skills in mainstream ophthalmic subspecialties. A minimum of 4 years ophthalmic training in general ophthalmology is essential.
Although this post does not have formal training recognition, it would allow interested applicants to expand their clinical experience of Ophthalmology with a view to self directed training. There is considerable opportunity to gain experience in the management of complex ocular surface disease and corneoplastic conditions. There is also provision for training in cataract surgery and general oculoplastic surgery. The post offers considerable potential to contribute to teaching, training and research within the department and the successful candidate would be encouraged to present their work at national and international meetings. Basic ophthalmic knowledge and experience in cataract surgery is essential.
The post is offered for 12 months in the first instance (subject to satisfactory progress), to cover current service demand.
There is no on-call commitment.
