RAM Accountants specialise in aspects of accountancy, tax and bookkeeping services, based in East Kilbride, Scotland. We at RAM provide a confidential personal service and we pride ourselves on being approachable an element which we feel is lost in translation with many of our accountancy practise competitors. We are looking to appoint an experienced Accountant to assist in the current expansion of an existing practice. The Role In this newly created role within our East Kilbride based firm, as an Accountant you will provide services to a range of clients including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies as well as prepare clients for the forthcoming tax digital transition. The Accountant will manage their own portfolio of clients and get involved with advisory projects which will include business planning, forecasts, budgets, tax planning. The Accountant will also have the opportunity to set up and train key clients on software on an ad hoc basis. Key Accountabilities Preparation of statutory accounts from client records to Partner review Supporting the Partners in filtering the workflow to meet the desired needs and capabilities. Preparing and reviewing corporation tax returns and CT600s Preparing and reviewing VAT returns Preparing and reviewing personal tax computations Assisting in the management of a diverse client portfolio with the Partners Supervising and supporting junior team members Preparing periodic management accounts Managing workload to ensure deadlines are met whilst always maintaining a high level of service Recording the financial transactions of business in bookkeeping software (Sage Business Cloud), spreadsheets or databases Checking figures and reporting for accuracy and reporting any irregularities in data to senior management. Role Requirements CA / ACCA/ AAT qualified / part qualified, minimum BA in Accountancy or alternatively qualified by experience with appropriate references will be considered Experience gained within a similar role in Practice for a minimum of 2-3 years Able to deal with a multitude of clients and to prioritise your workload Good working knowledge of both Iris and Sage software (cloud preferably) and have a general knowledge of cloud-based accountancy packages in general and excel experience essential Confident, diligent individual who is able to work to strict deadlines both on an individual basis and as part of a team. Proven, hands-on experience of management reporting Strong commercial and analytical skills Able to work to deadlines in a fast-moving and changeable environment Ability to maintain good working relationships and good communication skills Ability to work under pressure with a mature approach Experience of cloud based Accountancy software (desirable) Team leading experience surrounding segregation of duties with junior staff (desirable) Payroll & pension skillset pertaining to managing junior staff members (desirable) Benefits A competitive salary within the £24,000 – £30,000 range (depending on experience) Working hours Monday to Friday (9.00am – 5.00pm) holidays 20 basic + 8 days bank holidays This is a fantastic opportunity for the Accounts Senior to join a dynamic team on a full-time permanent basis.
