We are looking for an experienced Personal Tax Manager to work directly with the senior managers within the Inverness office. The Role A Tax Manager is being sought to join and complement the tax team which has a growing portfolio consisting of companies, partnerships, LLPs and non-resident landlords. This is a role where you will be required to provide prompt technical support to the client partners on a varied and technically challenging client base. Candidates will ideally be at a managerial level in their current role. Our team in Inverness advise clients involved in many areas of the Highland economy and in many instances, we provide a tailor-made service for all aspects of their connected affairs - whether personal, family and business. Our services range from assisting with the financial and tax compliance requirements by setting-up efficient tax planning structures and processes, through to providing highly specialist financial advice in conjunction with other professionals. Key Accountabilities Review of personal, partnership, LLP, trust and corporate tax returns Able to recognise and advise on planning points for clients that may arise as a result of tax return reviews or other correspondence Review of simple ad hoc advisory work prepared by team members Able to respond to client partner requests for information on planning opportunities with appropriately researched and documented alternatives Preparation of detailed and technical tax advisory reports for clients Self-awareness of own knowledge of the appropriate legislation is vital to be able to guide and educate colleagues. Critically, it is necessary to know where an answer cannot be provided without further consultation and to be able to research and consult within the firm for the best advice Correspondence with HMRC where enquiries are raised into self-assessment tax returns Education and Experience A broad base of strong technical skills and experience CTA and/or ACA/ACCA qualified with a minimum of three years PQE gained in a tax environment Confidence in dealing with partners, work colleagues and clients Previous relevant experience of working at assistant manager level as they will be managing their own portfolio whilst also being responsible for reviewing the work of the junior tax staff Tax compliance experience Coming from a professional services background Excellent IT skills Personal Qualities An outgoing, positive and enthusiastic attitude An extremely high level of motivation, ability and commitment Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to work under pressure in a friendly environment Confident communicator to colleagues, partners and clients Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills are essential to ensure all deadlines are met Comfortable working on their own initiative as well as being a good team player High attention to detail and the ability to work in a timely manner Benefits We are able to offer a dynamic and varied workload Annual salary (market rate) depending upon experience Salary review annually in October Six-month probationary period Eligibility for assistant managers/managers’ bonus scheme Group Personal Pension Scheme: under the requirements of pension auto-enrolment you will be automatically enrolled into the Group Personal Pension scheme (4% employer contribution, 4% employee contribution).
