Job Summary Specialist Journeys is a group of travel companies incorporating brands such as Andante Travels, Arblaster & Clarke Wine Tours, Brightwater Holidays and more. Our expert-led holidays cover niche interests including cultural, activity, gardening and wine tours. The group has turnover of £20m annually, running hundreds of small group escorted tours each year, which are sold to customers in the UK, US and elsewhere. Our customers come from all walks of life, but are primarily retired or semi-retired professionals, looking for a unique, high quality, good value, specialist holiday and excellent service. Destinations on offer vary enormously from a weekend viewing Prince Charles’ Gardens at Highgrove to a full-blown adventure of a life time exploring the Bonsai trees of Japan. The office is based in Cupar, Fife. The wider team is experienced, friendly and supportive, and there is a positive, mutually supportive cultural environment within the office. The Role The Accounts Assistant is responsible for the management of the purchase ledger and for liaising effectively and efficiently with suppliers. This role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, an aptitude for learning the travel-specific aspects of the role, and strong communication skills in dealing with colleagues and with external suppliers. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows: Checking purchase invoices and resolving any queries Recording purchase invoices on Sage Maintaining and updating supplier details in Sage Preparing weekly payment run Calculating commissions due to newspapers on a weekly and monthly basis Assisting with end of month routines, including recording and updating accruals Identifying and chasing balances due Assisting with any other finance issues/queries as required The Candidate Essential skills/experience · Experience of using accounting software, preferably Sage · An understanding of ledger accounting and reconciliation principles, through experience in a similar role · Numerate, with strong attention to detail and accuracy · Strong written and verbal communication skills · Able to work towards tight deadlines when required · A good working knowledge of Microsoft office · Excellent organisational skills, including ability to prioritise · Can work well within a team and also under their own initiative · Able to liaise efficiently with external suppliers · Pro-active approach Desirable (but not essential) skills/experience · Experience of working in the travel industry · Experience of dealing with foreign exchange transactions · Good Excel skills Job Type : Full-time, fixed term contract, 18 months commencing April 2019 Hours of work: 0900 – 1730 Monday to Friday (one hour for lunch) = 37.5 hours per week Salary : £18,000-£20,000 pro rata depending on experience Holiday entitlement: 25 days per annum, plus bank holidays Closing Date: 23 March 2019
