A well established and respected engineering company in Ilkeston is looking for a quality engineer with a detailed understanding of BSI and the associated audit process. The position will play a lead part in supplier quality standards, leading continuous improvement with supplier quality on mind. In addition the quality engineer will be supporting the shop floor, leading the activities for implementing and reviewing quality systems and procedures to achieve required standards and objectives, and identify creative solutions to support “manufacturing the way it ought to be”.

* Coordinate and administer Quality Certification Programs.

* Coordinate internal audit process to ensure BSI quality certification is sustained.

* Coordinate supplier audits to ensure alignment with company goals.

* Manage and maintain Company’s quality inspection for incoming and in-process materials and components, processes and finished goods.

* Program and operate CMM machinery.

* Provide technical training, direction, guidance, and mentoring to the teams.

* Ensure tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated.

* Maintain and execute internal gauge calibration program.

* Generate First Article Inspection Reports.

* Monitoring performance against agreed parameters by gathering relevant data and producing statistical and other required reports.

* Leads supplier improvement from supplier provided product problems through improvement of supplier processes.

* Act as lead or participate on, and/or participate with the planning of a variety of Quality projects for the Ilkeston Manufacturing Team.

* Drives supplier continuous improvement through Cause and Corrective Actions on Supplier Corrective Action Report.

* Document and record changes when problem solving.

* Embrace specific company tools to accomplish duties and drive continuous improvements.

Qualifications – Experience/Education/Skill Requirements:

* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in supplier quality management

* Extensive experience in managing a quality system, in-particular ISO9001 compliance.

* Shop floor experience, preferably apprentice trained.

* Good problem-solving skills and facilitation.

* Ability to measure and read with accuracy hand held gauges and tools, such as depth micrometers, internal bore micrometers, and external micrometers.

* Experience with calibration systems including the measuring of gauges.

* CMM programming and operating experience.

* Engaging and inviting style for a highly motivated supplier base

* Able to measure in both metric and imperial from drawings as many components come from their facility in the US.

* This is a standalone role so you need to be confident to work in such a role whilst being hands on.

* Must have a detailed understanding of BSI and the associated audit process from start to finish.

Physical Demands:

* Works within a manufacturing environment and occasionally exposed to heat, cold and fumes/chemicals

* Must have the ability to lift 25kg within the guidelines from HSE (mechanical aids are available

* Needs to be able to walk the floor

* Requires travel to suppliers and other business destinations up to 10% of the time
