Associate Dean, Learning and Teaching

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: 26.25 hours (7 sessions) per week

The Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust is a specialist mental health Trust with expertise in psychological therapies, providing specialist and generic outpatient services for children and adults. It operates in various sectors, has a national reach, and a distinctive legacy. It is also known for innovation and partnership. The Trust is also an independent education provider regulated by the QAA. Our provision is primarily aimed at developing and strengthening the NHS and social care workforce but also extends into other sectors, including education and criminal justice. We offer validated and non-validated provision, from PGCerts to Professional Doctorates, to short courses and bespoke programmes for organisations.

We are recruiting to a key senior leadership role in the directorate and are looking for an experienced clinician-educator with significant leadership and management experience to join our Training Executive to contribute to the development and delivery of our strategy. It is an exciting and challenging opportunity reporting to the Director of Education & Training / Dean of Postgraduate Studies.

The Trust has an excellent reputation for education and training in the UK and internationally. We work closely with Health Education England and our main university partner, the University of Essex, to deliver programmes that meet workforce need in health and care. We also reach into a range of other key sectors. We have significant plans to expand our reach and impact and the successful applicant will play a pivotal role in consolidating and developing our current provision, including technology enhanced education and international developments. Our faculty and professional support teams are passionate about delivering the best learning outcomes and student experience and show immense commitment to the work they do.

The Trust is also operating in a very constrained financial environment, so experience of financial management is needed. Ensuring the sustainability of our programmes is an ongoing task, which requires innovation and applying quality improvement approaches to the range of activities to improve delivery and outcomes. Leading and managing change in the organisation will be a fundamental part of the role, requiring an understanding of the strategic environment and the Trust’s objectives balanced with the requirement to engage people in the organisation.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading and distinctive organisation with an ambitious and compelling mission, work with an energetic and committed senior leadership team in the Directorate of Education & Training. The Trust is looking to expand the reach and improve the value of its educational provision. The role will include a focus on innovation in how we develop our provision, reach new markets and improve the financial contribution of our provision. If you have an impressive track record in mental health and in education and are keen to make a difference, then get in touch and apply. We are very keen to hear from people from BAME communities.
