NEW OPPORTUNITY – TARGETED NEET YOUTH WORKER – SLOUGH – FULL TIME - 3 MONTHS INITIALLY

DBS WITHIN 12 MONTHS OR ON THE UPDATE SERVICE REQUIRED

Our client is seeking a Targeted NEET Youth Worker for their service in Slough supporting 16-18 year olds into education or training.

You will be supporting our client in ensuring it consistently remains in the top two quintiles of performance nationally in relation to low numbers of young people who are not in education, employment or training.

You will be proactively engaging with young people who are NEET through 1-1 and group work around related careers advice, guidance and guidance and information in order to motivate, inspire and support them in identifying and securing informed pathways to sustained Education, Employment or Training.

You will successfully provide support to young people to identify and overcome barriers which they may be facing in order to prevent them from needing more intensive and specialist services.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

* To design, deliver and evaluate high quality engagement with young people on a designated caseload in order to identify barriers and issues that are preventing them from fulfilling their potential and playing a full and positive role within their various environments including family, school, work, supported housing and with their peers.

* To provide information, advice and guidance to designated young people on a wide range of issues that may be impacting on their lives.

* Work directly with a caseload of referred clients to provide time limited structured support in order to meet identified needs, increase engagement with mainstream services and prevent problems escalating. This could be in 1-1 or small groups.

EXPERIENCE

* You will need to demonstrate significant experience of engaging NEET young people from different backgrounds both 1-1 and in groups with experience of working with high levels of vulnerability.

* Evidence of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working , voluntary sector agencies, schools, police and CAMHS to deliver holistic and integrated support services to vulnerable young people.

* Planning and delivering outcome led support packages for NEET and vulnerable young people with multiple needs.

KNOWLEDGE

* A good understanding of the issues affecting the 16-19 year old NEET cohort.

* A good understanding of the issues and barriers affecting young people.

* Detailed knowledge of the range, roles and responsibilities of different agencies and partners working to support 16-19 year olds.

* Knowledge of Child Protection and Safeguarding.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Qualified with a Diploma in Careers Guidance Parts 1&2, QCG and or NVQ Level 6 in Guidance or Level 4 with extensive experience.

* Relevant professional qualification that grants full professional status in working with young people, such as JNC recognised qualification in Youth Work, Social Work or relevant qualifications.

* Commitment to CPD and willingness to undertake any training.
