My client is a leading construction based business, who are instantly recognisable within the market place. With offices based on the outskirts of York in North Yorkshire, this business has experienced a strong period of growth and as a result are looking to grow the long standing, existing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a strong, varied accounts based background covering both transactional finance and management accounts to join a business that really do look after their employees. It would ideally suit someone that has previous experience of managing staff as it will involve overseeing and mentoring three existing transactional staff.

As the Senior Accounts Assistant, you will be reporting to the Finance Manager and your main duties will initially include but are not limited to the following:

- Supporting in the production of journals, reconciliations and management accounts preparation.

- Assisting in year-end accounts and maintaining closed site balance and profit and loss accounts

- Assisting with the production of monthly accruals and prepayments

-Reconciling data including control accounts and intercompany balances

-Assisting with the statutory accounts, CIS, VAT, EC Sales

-Dealing with queries on a day to day basis

-Identifying and developing improvements to processes and controls

-Supervising the Cashier, Purchase Ledger Clerk and the Payments Clerk and supporting on transactional process as and when required

-Providing support to the Senior Management team as and when required

The ideal candidate will:

-Have experience of working within a Finance team within a varied, all rounded role, covering transactional finance and management accounts

-Be qualified by experience, AAT qualified or could be in the early stages of studying ACCA/CIMA

-Have some experience of mentoring/supervising

-Have good IT skills and pick up new systems quickly

-Have experience of working within a similar role

-Be able to work within a deadline orientated environment

-Be able to work as part of a team

-Have excellent communication skills.
