Aqua-tech are working with it's client a well-known design and build company based in Inverness.
Due to continued success they are looking to recruit a Cost estimator to be based at their office in Inverness.
Summary of Role and Responsibilities:
· This role is responsible for the timely, transparent and accurate costing, cost management and cost reconciliation of design and build projects;
· The role is responsible for identifying and implementing processes, procedures and systems which support the efficient and accurate costing, cost management and cost reconciliation of design and build projects;
Key Activities and Tasks
· Key project costing, cost management and cost reconciliation activities and tasks include preparation of cost estimates, cost monitoring, managing cost changes over the course of a project, analysing and evaluating costs particularly actual costs against budget costs, managing the tendering process for sub-contractors providing tender information and helping to evaluate tender submissions;
· Key financial management activities and tasks include development and reporting of project performance KPIs and overall company performance KPIs (both regular reporting and one-off reports) that will help to drive efficiency and performance, providing cost and cost reconciliation information to the finance team for inclusion in management reporting, liaising with the company’s Director, financial manager and staff;
· Key procurement and inventory activities and tasks include preparation and maintenance of a directory of suppliers and materials costs, managing the materials and stock inventory, acting as the company’s main materials purchaser and price negotiator, developing and managing relationships with suppliers and sub-contractors;
· High level proficiency in Excel spreadsheets and Word. Some experience of database software and Sage financial software would also be desirable;
· Good knowledge of construction methods and materials;
· Excellent organisational skills including document management, note keeping, referencing etc;
· Confidence to engage with internal and external parties to obtain information as required to allow the timely completion of tasks;
· Willingness to challenge assumptions and cost information to ensure it is robust and fit for purpose;
· Ability to interpret and analyse 2D and 3D design information (mostly technical drawings);
· Ability to liaise and work with a broad range of people – colleagues, sub-contractors and suppliers;
· Enthusiasm to contribute to the development of an innovative and growing business.
· Cost estimating training and qualifications and experience in either the manufacturing or construction sector (or ideally in both)
