WHAT COMPANY YOU WILL BE WORKING FOR

Westray Recruitment Consultants is working with a leading manufacturer for the steel and metal industry in the Gateshead area to source a Production Planner. The Planner will be reporting to the Production Manager and will be responsible for planning equipment locations, running production for the site and ensuring customer orders are met

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING IN YOUR ROLE?

- Planning the locations of foundry equipment
- Updating various databases.
- Chill management. Log condition and numbers of casts used in every chill.
- Effectively manage, control and communicate the foundry production plan and assist in the development of the Heat Treatment loading plan.
- To ensure the timely movement of product from the Foundry to the Machine Shop.
- Effectively communicate the status of the production plan to the manufacturing team.
- To create and maintain an effective machining production plan to satisfy customer delivery dates.
- To control capacity constraints within operations and establish alternative solutions to these constraints to ensure customer delivery dates are maintained.
- To liaise between internal departments, Foundry, Heat Treatment, Technical and Commercial. Identify any potential issues that may affect the production plan, and communicate accordingly.
- Liaise with the production Supervision/Management to understand the daily progress and areas of constraint.
- Preparing production reports.
- Ensuring that drawings and routing cards are in order and available for the Machine Shop.
- Ordering of BOM parts
- Ensure key performance indicators are reviewed and improvement plans are created to improve overall performance.

WHAT EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION?

- Knowledge and experience of Production Planning is highly desirable.
- Computer Literate (MS Word and Excel) is essential.
- Knowledge and experience of Planning/Scheduling packages is desirable. Full training will be given on the company`s bespoke system.
- Manufacturing production/background would be highly advantageous.
- Problem solving and analytical skills are advantageous.
- Ability to work well on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of the latest lean manufacturing methods.
- Strong communication skills at all levels.
- Must be willing to work nightshifts and any overtime at short notice.
- Ideally, you would hold a HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering

WHAT ARE THE FINER DETAILS OF YOUR ROLE

This is a permanent role from day one that operates on dayshift. Nightshift and overtime may also be required at short notice
