The Community Logistics Manager (CLM) plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the NCS programme, bridging the relationships between our core staff team, seasonal staff teams and our accommodation providers (usually a university campus).
You will be the key contact for seasonal staff in the second phase of the NCS programme, responsible for logistics of the programme and providing a safe and high quality experience for the young people participating. You'll work alongside or in some cases take over from the Programme Leader and inspire teams & seasonal staff to make a real difference in their communities.
This fully residential role will involve evening and weekend work. You'll have free 'live-in' accommodation and food for the duration of the role.
Main Responsibilities
Management:
* Line manage the Creative Workshop Facilitators and Personal Speaking Trainer on each wave
* Write evaluations and give verbal & written feedback to your direct reports on a regular basis.
* Manage the relationship between NCS The Challenge and the residential accommodation site, ensuring strong lines of communication are maintained throughout the summer delivery period.
* Give health & safety briefings for up to 10 staff and 130 young people.
* Oversee the evening cooking sessions and ensure these are conducted safely by young people and seasonal staff.
* Be responsible for the petty cash, receipts & reconciliations.
Logistical:
* Arrange & manage transport to and from different programme venues through our First Transport & taxi providers.
* Maintain appropriate records in accordance with transport to ensure budgets are adhered to.
* Order, manage and distribute large quantities of food on a weekly basis for the young people & staff staying at the residential accomodation site.
* Ensure that the correct equipment and resources are in the right venue each day in order for the programme to be delivered.
* Ensure that the correct rooms in each venue are accessible on the correct days.
* Conduct & monitor risk assessments for the residential site, day venues and evening spaces.
* Communicate with the Programme leader and other relevant summer staff on a daily basis to ensure the NCS curriculum runs to schedule.
In addition to the responsibilities outlined, you may be required to undertake any duties within your skills & capabilities which The Challenge reasonably considers necessary to meet the needs of the young people on the programme.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Willing to work residentially with staff teams and large numbers of young people
* Proven organisational & logistical skills.
* Proven ability to manage professional relationships, with excellent interpersonal skills
* Ability to take initiative and work independently
* Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to overcome problems
* Experience of working in a customer-facing environment and communicating with a range of people
* A flexible approach to work & the ability to adapt working style to different environments.
* Strive for continuous improvement by seeking & sharing feedback appropriately & respectfully
* Understanding of working with diverse community groups
Beneficial:

Work Dates
There will be two Community Logistic Managers with alternating schedules at each Team Challenge venue. Community Logistics Managers work in the second phase of the NCS programme.
We will confirm work dates upon role offer. However for reference, CLMs work either 22-29 day contracts, or 36 - 43 days contracts throughout July & August, depending on their work schedule. You will be required to work some long days, including evenings and weekends and will be expected to travel to the central office once every week for handover meetings with relevant staff.
