VD Recruitment is seeking to appoint a Deputy Nursery Manager for our client – a well established Ofsted rated ”Good” nursery registered for 37 children.This is a full time permanent role of 40 hours/ week working between 8am to 6.30pm

We are looking for an experienced and efficient Deputy Manager in a lovely nursery setting in Mitcham. You will work closely with the Nursery Manager to assist in providing a safe, secure and stimulating environment for children and collaboratively work with colleagues, parents, carers and other multi professionals. Be committed to safeguarding and create an inclusive environment.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of Level 3 qualification in Childcare or above. At least two years post qualifying experience with preferably at least one year in a senior position. Must have strong knowledge of the EYFS, good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

Salary Offered - £21k - £23K

Location – Mitcham CR4

Duties include:

* Deputise for the Manager.

* Oversee the smooth running of the nursery.

* Lead the staff team to deliver high quality practice within the nursery.

* Ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care and development for children placed in the Day Nursery.

* Assist the Manager in setting and implementing objectives for policy for the Nursery within the framework of the management committee.

* To be responsible for the supervision of students, identifying their learning needs and advise key-staff of these.

* In conjunction with the Manager, to formulate, operate and evaluate a yearly programme of activities, following the guidelines of the National Curriculum that is suitable to the age range of children.

* To work alongside the parents/carers of special needs children to achieve full integration within the Nursery.

* Liase with and support parents/carers and other family members.

* Liase with the Local authority and other professionals associated with the Nursery.

* Being an excellent role model to the other staff in the setting

* Manage staff effectively, ensuring ratios are maintained throughout the setting

* Provide a high standard of health and hygiene

* Act as a key person for a group of children as allocated by the management team, ensuring attachment theories are respected

* Have a sound knowledge of all the children in the setting and an excellent knowledge of your key children

* To exercise a general duty of care for work colleagues and to be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for all employees/students under your supervision

* Chair meeting in the absence of the manager

* It is every member of staff responsibility to ensure professionalism and confidentiality are adhered to at all times

* Oversee the professionalism of all staff/ students

Experience , Qualification & Skills Required:

* Childcare qualified to Level 3 or above from a recognised awarding scheme (CWDC Diploma, NNEB, BTEC, NVQ, CACHE).

* You may have experience of the following: Room Manager, Third-in-charge, Deputy Manager

* Fluency in written and spoken English and an ability to write reports as directed by the manager.

* Strong knowledge of the EYFS.

The positions are subject to an Enhanced DBS certificate and references.
