Express Recruitment are proud business partners with one of the UK’s leading food manufacturing firms. Due to ever increasing success and rapid growth, our client are seeking an experienced and influential Engineering Shift Team leader to lead and inspire their talented maintenance workforce.

The role will be based at their manufacturing facility in Nottingham, East Midlands.

The salary for this role pays £40-42K (Inc. shift premium) and the working hours will consist of a continental shift pattern with an occasional 12 hour working day shift.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Provide day to day support and supervision of the maintenance engineering team

* Promote a no tolerance Health & Safety culture within the workplace and ensure company legislation is adhered to at all times

* Manage the day to day running of the shift rota including scheduling breaks, employee holidays and highlighting areas for additional staffing

* Carry out internal Health & Safety audits, quality control inspections of the production line and of all machinery

* Writing up accurate and detailed fault reports, risk assessments and method statements, whilst ensuring all documentation is correctly archived into the company’s in house management systems.

* Monitor stock levels and ensure correct volumes of materials are upheld at all times

* Respond urgently to machine and system breakdowns and ensure problems are rectified within estimated timeframes

* Maintain company log book and detailed handovers prior to changing over of shifts

* Implement LEAN Manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques into the production department

* Ensure excellent standards of housekeeping and workplace hygiene are upheld at all times

* Lead weekly meetings with maintenance personnel and line managers and present key information and statistical reports

Qualification and Experience

* Relevant qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering

* Excellent man management and team leadership qualities

* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight production deadlines

* Excellent Health and Safety awareness, formal qualifications desirable (NEBOSH, IOSH)

* Excellent communication skills both written and verbally

* Knowledge of/experience in implementing LEAN Manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques would be advantageous e.g. 5s, Kaizen, 8D, Right First Time, JIT
