The Web & Apps Developer role will build and develop custom web based portals, mobile apps, desktop apps and any other development work that will tie in and compliment our services offerings, using a variety of coding languages. These projects will be ongoing and evolving with the company portfolio and requirements. Organisational Context: Oakford is a substantial Cloud and Managed Service Provider supplying technical services from our bases in Wiltshire and Dorset. We are looking for a number of friendly new faces to join our growing team of 60 professionals. We are among the Elite in our industry and pride ourselves on our integrity, knowledge and experience. We have a great reputation and are consistently growing our business and we have seen no impact from the current economic climate. We are already the largest provider of services in this geography but are looking to improve our support and relationships with these accounts while growing more business in the area. The successful candidate will work with a high degree of autonomy within a small team, answering to the OIS Technical Team Leader. While self-sufficient, the candidate will need to be aware of the skills of other team members and use them if required, while at the same time being available to assist in his or her area of greatest expertise when requested to do so by other team members. Candidate Profile: The candidate we are looking for will typically have successfully completed a relevant IT course at University or college with approximately 3 or more year’s relevant development experience with an existing portfolio of work to back this up. The ideal candidate will be able to multi-project and be able to maintain focus across the projects they are working on with extensive knowledge and understanding of coding languages such as HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, Javascript & AJAX – these are essential and the candidate will be expected to be fluent in them. The work will consist of working on several main background projects that are the initial long term goals of this role. These projects will be following an agreed road map that will designate stages and phases of the project and completion dates. It is anticipated that other smaller ad-hoc projects may get brought in from time to time with an urgent requirement that may superseded the main projects temporarily hence the need to be able to effectively multi-project. The candidates should be hungry to succeed in their new role and willing to learn. They should relish working with new technologies and challenges, and demonstrate an ability to learn quickly. The candidate must be a self-starter and able to work on their own as necessary as well as work with colleagues. The candidate must be able to drive. An Enhanced DBS check of the successful candidate will be undertaken and it is a requirement of the post that a clean DBS check is maintained. Dimensions of the Role: The candidate will work primarily from our wonderful HQ in Potterne and after completion of their probationary period; there may be the option to work from home several days a week as agreed with their manager. Occasionally the candidate may be requested to work from other locations as specified by the company. This is an overview of what the job will entail but it is not an exhaustive list - Ability to plan & create planning documentation for assigned projects - Ability to provide & maintain strategic technological roadmaps - Excellent Graphic Design Skills - Experience of using graphic design apps such as Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator and InDesign - Competently Develop & Code Web based portals, front and back end - Competently Develop & Code Apps for use within Android/IOS devices - Ability to test and de-bug own work Requirements of the Role: In order to apply for this role you must have the following experience: - Project Planning - Creating UI Graphics for Web / App sites/portals - Extensive experience coding in these languages; HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, Javascript & AJAX - Collaborative approach - Excellent commercial awareness
