Data Researcher Newport £35,000 - £40,000 We are seeking an experienced practitioner who is able to plan and lead user research activities on complex services as part of a small and cross functional agile team within a national institute. You will work amongst digital experts and the wider business to provide a delivery, consultation and assurance service in line with policies to deliver digital transformation in the areas of data collection, processing and dissemination. Data researchers plan, design and carry out research activities with users that help teams get a deep understanding of the people that use government services. Research informs policy, proposition, service; content and interaction design so that services work well for users and achieve their policy intent. What will you be doing as a data researcher? Planning, designing and conducting research sessions to support the design and development of services * Leading the user research process from developing user recruitment briefs through to test moderation, analysis and report writing Working closely with designers, developers and product owners to turn user data into actionable product/service requirements that feed into and influence product direction. Designing, scripting and analysing qualitative and quantitative data through a variety of research methods such as surveys, analytic, in-depth interviews etc. * Applying the user-centred design principles to product and service design in an iterative development environment * Communicating research findings to all relevant stakeholders using the most appropriate styles and techniques to inform decision making based on user needs. Managing research findings such as research reports and video footage to ensure they are accessible by relevant stakeholders. What are we looking for in a data researcher? An understanding of the technical roles in a digital team Research skills - Experience of helping teams adopt a wide range of user research methods Analysis - Understands and can help teams apply a range of methods to analyse research data and synthesise findings. User centred practice - Has experience of helping inexperienced teams adopt new practices and implement them into their work flows Strategic insight - Understands what problem the team is trying to solve. Can align user research activities to inform decision making and action.
