Reporting into the Head of Commercial Finance, duties will include but will not be limited to: * Acting as the financial partner and expert for all matters relating to the business unit. Being the trusted adviser and provide support and challenge to the management team in the delivery of financial performance and development to ensure the integrity of processes, reported and planned numbers and guardianship of the business * Demonstrating exemplary behaviours and drive a focus upon delivery of operating profit and cash generation within the business unit to ensure that the financial consequences of all decisions are fully considered and understood * Ensuring sound and robust decision making processes including those regarding acquisition and approval of new customers; operational project delivery and cash generation * Taking ownership and delivery of accurate and robust monthly actuals, ensuring that variances to planned performance and key risks and opportunities are clear and understood * Ensuring that all balance sheet accounts and entries are clearly reconciled and show the appropriate financial position alongside the financial control team * Creating clear financial plans relating to forecasts, budgets and strategic planning in conjunction with the management team * Preparing high-quality management information reporting packs for month end actuals, forecasts and budgets * Deputising for the Head of Commercial Finance where necessary * Conducting ad-hoc investigations and projects The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate the following skills and experiences: * A qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) * Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a range of senior stakeholders * Ability to work in a complex, fast paced environment and respond under ambiguous situations * Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, unfaltering attention to detail and is highly logical and numerate * Ability to present ideas and opinions in a collaborative, credible and influential manner * A continuous improvement mind-set * Proven ability to make financial information simple and insightful for finance and non-finance decision makers This role would suit a qualified accountant who already has strong partnering experience and is keen to further develop their commercial accounting experience.
