Data Scientist/Analyst – Engineering, Home Based, Full Time, up to £100,000pa + package

I am looking for a Data Scientist/Analyst for my client, an off-grid energy provider, based either from home in the United Kingdom or Nairobi.

You will be responsible for analysis and transformation of engineering data from distributed IoT devices into product/behaviour insights and finally, recommendations to multiple departments. You will also use device characteristics to provide technical decision support for warranty cases, personalised customer offerings and loan repayment prediction.

You will create new analysis from existing data and assist in developing long term strategy for future data collection capability and data services. Your results and conclusions will then be communicated with relevant stakeholders.

You will need an understanding of concepts relevant to energy and electrical circuits alongside skills in a data analysis programming language such as Python or R. Experience with querying structured data, unstructured data and Excel is essential.

Experience with engineering analysis and modelling for energy, electricity, batteries and/or power electronics is desired in addition as well as, experience with Microsoft Azure (U-SQL, Data Factory, Data Lake), other Big Data tools (Hadoop, Spark), other data engineering tools for system integration of data analysis into business applications.

You must hold a BSc in quantitative field (Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Science, Statistics etc.) and/or equivalent experience with independent learning, resulting in a suitable skillset for effect performance in the role. Masters or PhD level training in a quantitative, statistically, mathematically and/ or computationally intensive field would be preferred, but not essential.
