Deputy Facilities Manager
Permanent contract – 40 Hours per week

We currently have an exciting vacancy for a Deputy Facilities Manager to join our Facilities team.
The Deputy Facilities Manager Role:
* To directly assist the Facilities Manager in order to maintain and develop the Zoo, aiming for “world class” through excellent standards and site presentation
* Lead and manage the maintenance team, ensuring all responsive, planned, preventative and general maintenance tasks and minor works for the Zoo site are carried out in order to maintain and improve visitor and staff facilities, thus providing an efficient and safe site
* Directly responsible for all Health and Safety (H&S) within the team with regards to Risk Assessments, RAM’s and CDM duties for minor works
* To manage all arrangements for planning and delivery of the statutory maintenance and compliance inspections along with testing/monitoring programs to ensure NEZS meets its obligations
* Provide assistance for setting, achieving and monitoring maintenance budgets and CAPEX requirements
* To directly manage the Fire Maintenance Contractor and be fully responsible for site wide fire maintenance to ensure all compliance responsibilities are met whilst working closely with the H&S team to ensure action is taken from Fire Risk Assessments
* To manage all risk management plans and undertake the duties of the 'named responsible person' on behalf of the 'duty holder' as set out by the Health & Safety Commission
* Focus on your own personal development to ensure you remain fully up to date with compliance and industry changes to inform future requirements.
The successful candidate for this Deputy Facilities Manager will:
* Formal FM education and a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in Facilities Management
* Experience in maintenance team management and general facility management of busy, large, complex site based organisations
* Ability to demonstrate exceptional leadership behaviors
* Understanding of Fire Regulations and Requirements
* Proven track record in change process within an FM Environment including establishment of a PPM system
* Experience of Asset Management within a complex and diverse environment
* Qualified in IOSH Managing Safely as a minimum
* Proven track record in FM compliance including PPM, Legionella Management, Asbestos Management, PUWER, LOLER etc
* Experience of budgetary management
* Proven track record of being able to build and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
* Strong customer care ethos
* Understanding of projects in occupied environments
* Self-motivated and result driven
* Membership of CIBSE, IET, IWFM, CMI, IOSH or NEBOSH is desirable
Hours of work are 40 hours per week 5 days out of 7. The salary for this role is £44,211.09 per annum and in addition we offer a range of amazing benefits which can be found on the Chester Zoo careers page.
